Wildflower 2013 Pictures

I raced the long course on Saturday which I will do a race report on soon, but in the meantime here are some pictures of the Sunday Olympic distance, which is highlighted by the collegiate competition. Though the long course was hot and stagnant the day before, the temps dropped, winds picked up, and rain threatened the Sunday race, fortunately the course stayed dry.

collegiate athletes warm up before the swim

Dylan Bridges-Oliva was just behind the leaders entering T2

lots of fans await you at the top of lynch hill, which is the top of the climb out of T1, descent
into T2, and the top of the descent of your run into the finishing chute

The top 3 collegiate men entered T2 seconds apart, Yoni Doron-Peters of Cal Berkeley
managed to put 2 minutes on William Jones on the run and won in 2:05:44

Scott Kolofer summons the strength of his partially nude and equine support team
to make it up the last climb of the day on his way to a strong third place finish

much like the long course the Oly course is a relentless series of hills, the thousands of fans
and awesome aid stations ran by Cal Poly students help your climbs a great deal

if you are a Team in Training athlete prepare for a huge cheering
section at the Wildflower... and optional beer

or two beers as you descend the last hill of this iconic race
